Segmentation and audiences

Predictive customer segmentation for ecommerce

Customer segmentation tools group shoppers so you can treat them differently. Skubl builds segments from predictions as well as history: every customer gets a predicted lifetime value, a churn risk score and audience scores, so you can group shoppers by what they’re likely to do next, not just what they did last year.

Segments feed straight into Skubl’s ecommerce personalization, so an audience you define is one you can act on.

The problem

Static segments are out of date the day you build them

Most segments are built from past behavior and refreshed by hand. A customer who is about to churn still sits in “loyal”, and a first-time buyer with high potential looks like everyone else.

  • 01

    Backward-looking

Spend-based tiers reward what happened, not what will happen.

  • 02

    Refreshed by hand

Lists are rebuilt monthly, so they’re always behind.

  • 03

    Stuck in one tool

Segments built for email can’t be used on site or in ads.

How Skubl solves it

How Skubl’s customer segmentation tools work

    Predicted LTV and churn segments

Group customers by predicted lifetime value and churn risk from Skubl’s predictive layer.

    Segments that update themselves

Membership updates as shoppers browse and buy, with no manual refresh.

  • 03

    Value based segmentation

Combine predicted value with behavior to separate high-potential first-time buyers from one-off bargain hunters.

  • 04

    Use them everywhere

Send segments into onsite personalization, email and ad platforms.

Dynamic segmentation, explained

The terms you’ll see when comparing marketing segmentation software.

Static segments
Fixed lists built at a point in time. Simple, but they go stale.
Dynamic segmentation
Segments defined by rules or predictions, where membership updates automatically as customer data changes.
Visitor segmentation
Grouping anonymous visitors by behavior, traffic source or location before they’re known customers.
Audience segmentation software
Tools that build and sync audiences to the channels where you reach customers, such as your site, email and ads.

High value audiences in practice

Illustrative scenarios, not customer results.

  • VIPs at risk

High predicted lifetime value and rising churn risk: a priority audience for a personal win-back.

  • Promising first-time buyers

New customers whose predicted value is in your top tier see full-price new arrivals, not discounts.

  • Prospecting from your best customers

Sync your highest-value audience to ad platforms to find more customers like them.

What predictive segments should move

We’ll add verified customer results here.

Customer segmentation FAQ

What is dynamic segmentation?

Dynamic segmentation groups customers using rules or predictions that update automatically, so a customer moves between segments as their behavior changes. For example, a customer joins “at risk” when their predicted churn risk rises, and leaves it when they buy again, with no manual list rebuild.

What is value based segmentation?

Value based segmentation groups customers by how much they’re worth to your business, ideally by predicted future value rather than past spend alone. It lets you invest more in customers who are likely to be valuable and avoid over-discounting those who would buy anyway.
